Nightlife in Tahoe

Tuesday, after my workday was done, had to leave for Reno to run some calls because the normal tech for the area had the rear-end go out in his pickup. I called in some favors and was able to get DHL to stay open until I got there.

After recieving my boxes, I was off to Truckee, and then finally to South Lake Tahoe. Finishing up around 10:30 pm I decided to book a room at Harrah's. And what a room I got!

They decided to give me a suite for their lowest rate! Turned out to be the nicest room I've ever had.

This thing had a living room with tv, couch, coffee table, and table by the window on the 8th floor. The bedroom had a kingsize bed and tv. Then there was a walkin closet. There were also 2 bathrooms...each with a small tv. One had a shower and the other had a really nice jacussi.

As far as eating goes...at that time of night the only thing open was a 24 hour cafe in Harveys.

Coming into Tahoe on the East side I could see many great views of the sunset across the water. In the morning, after 4 hours sleep, my next call was in Tahoe City (the other side of the lake) so I drove up the entire West side of the lake yesterday morning. Then it was back to Reno to run calls and then drive home.

Got in around 10:30 last night.

As far as Nightlife in Tahoe...go there in the summer when the rates are cheaper and less tourists. A lot of rooms had vacancy signs up. Go when you can plan on staying for at least a couple of days as there are lot's of things to do and explore. Oh an bring plenty of film.

I went to Las Vegas about 10 years ago in the dead of summer. You basically want to stay inside when you're there during that time. Then again, there's so much to do inside--gambling aside--that you have no shortage of things to do.
I didn't so much as put a quarter in a slot machine. Not that I didn't have time or the quarter...not my thing anymore. The best thing in the Casino's is the shows and buffets and the cocktail waitresses of course. Doesn't bother me to be around it though unless its packed.
I can see how easy it is to get caught up in the gambling stuff. It always felt weird doing it in Vegas, though.
I used to do fairly well playing blackjack back when they used a single deck of cards. Payed for my trip many times.
Blackjack is the only game where you have a fighting chance of actually winning.
