The city is supposed to be putting sidewalks down my side of the street in the spring. I haven't seen the plans yet but I should have my front fence done..or done enough by that time. I've got only 4 more post holes to dig and concrete in some posts. It seems most of the neighbors are aware of it and holding off on planting anything along the street until the project is complete.
If they do it right, cars will be able to park in front of the house, people will have a sidewalk, and posibly even small strips of planting areas for lawn or flowers or something.
Anyway it will be good for the property value. The picture below is looking south along my street. You can bearly see my roof top.
