Geekend Update

Didn't get as much done this weekend as planned. I spent half the morning on Saturday running around looking for green plastic lattice for the fence. I did get the posts all notched for the bottom cross pieces and got them all installed.

Since this is my first fence, and I'm designing in my head as I go...there is lots of thought involved. I haven't quite decided the easiest way to resize the sheets of lattice yet. I did pick up a new saw blade that is designed to cut the stuff so it won't melt. Where to do it and how to hold it so I can get an 8 foot long straight cut is the dilemma at this point.

On another note, we have been having trouble getting the dog to eat. Finally we are figuring out that it is not necessarily the food that she is getting. She just doesn't like to eat alone in the laundry room. She does seem to like eating when we do in the liviing room. Who would have thought?

8' cut - that is a bit of a dilemma. I've seen instances like this where you take a 96" 2x4 and clamp it down on each end and then you can use a jigsaw or skillsaw and hopefully it won't slip all over the place - but you still have to guide it somehow - maybe while sitting on some cinderblocks...?
I have a similiar idea sandwiching 5 sheets of the lattice together between two 2x4's that are screwed together. Then cut along the edge. Still not an easy task since thae arms aren't 8 feet long...
